Of the Apulian wedding they loved the fact that it was not simply a party: “it’s not a party, it’s a life experience” – they repeated to me several times almost wanting to justify their decision getting married in Puglia.
The night was not slow to arrive and the next morning we would meet to organize all the details. Fortunately the wedding would take place in the afternoon, I would have plenty of time to regain my strength.
Nicole, the afternoon of the following day, looked like a real princess. Even an uneven country lane seemed, in his presence, a high fashion catwalk and exalted its posture even more. She is a model and on that occasion she appeared clearly.
Meanwhile Daniel was anxiously waiting for her in the splendid Cathedral of Monopoli, also known as the Basilica of Maria Santissima della Madia, famous among the churches of Puglia for a legend about it (I will tell you this at the end of the article).
After the religious ceremony, with the newlyweds and the following guests, the wedding party was waiting for us at the suggestive Castle of Marchione, today a Puglia marriage farm, around the year 1000, Acquaviva D’Aragona’s summer and hunting residence.
A very romantic place, which lent itself very well to the love story of Nicole and Daniel and to the wild party that lasted until evening.
Ok, I think now it’s time to let you relive the whole day with the wedding photos. They will bring you back to those moments certainly better than I can with words.
If you want, you could see the trailer made by one of the best wedding videographer in Italy, Fabio Stanzione.
See you soon!
The legend of the Cathedral of Monopoli
Probably, in the year in which it was built (around 1000), the church’s works remained blocked for a long time because the beams needed to complete the roof were missing. One day the Madonna appeared to the sacristan in a dream and revealed that the beams were already in the harbor. For three times the sacristan went to the bishop Romualdo to tell him the message of the Madonna, but he, skeptical, drove him all three times accusing him of being drunk. All of a sudden the angels sounded all the bells of the city. The people and the clergy gathered at the port and saw a large raft (the cupboard) with the icon of the Madonna on it. The beams of the makeshift boat were recovered and were used to complete the roof of the cathedral.
After 900 years the Monopoli cathedral beams are still alive and fresh to the touch. The legend seems to find confirmation in the hypothesis of the sinking of a large cargo ship, armed by a certain Euprasio and left from Constantinople. (fonte: Il Sud che non ti aspetti)
