Wedding in Orvieto, Umbria
Umbria lies in the upper center of Italy and it’s said to be ‘the green heart of the country’. Famous for its green forests, medieval hill towns and delicious local cuisine, it makes a perfect location for a wedding. The photoshoot that I had the luck to do only confirms that theory!
The bride, elegant and subtle Francesca is from Orvieto, but she lives with Lorenzo in Milan. However, I cannot be surprised that they followed a beautiful tradition of getting married in the bride’s hometown. Wedding in Orvieto can be anything but ordinary – the town is perched on a rock cliff and the famous Duomo di Orvieto (Orvieto Cathedral) has the ability to stun anyone with its marble facade and Pieta sculpture. It’s also in Orvieto Cathedral where the wedding ceremony of Francesca and Lorenzo took place!
After the ceremony we took a walk and after a while we found ourselves in a famous Pozzo di San Patrizio, the St. Patrick’s Well. Despite its origins as a defensive building, it created an atmosphere of intimacy. As a photographer, I was happy to be able to scuplt with the light coming through the windows. The dinner with family and friends took place in a place that perfectly fitted the couple – elegant and homely Casa Vissani.
